more clutch problems, HELP.

I come before you a broken man. I parked my 75 914 2.0 in the garage with no problems. I got in the car to wash it about 3 weeks later for an autocross the next day. When i tryed to start the car it lurched forward with the clutch pushed in. The car shifted fine when i parked it. I checked and when the clutch is pushed in the throughout lever moves. where do i start? thanks in advance, greg.

How about the throw-out arm bushing?

Maybe, just maybe, if the car is used infrequently the clutch disk rusted to the flywheel. I've heard of it before, and I've heard of some real red-neck fixes. One is to drag the car, with the cluch pedal pressed in, with another car (usally a Pick-up). You should try rocking the car back and forth with some strong freinds while someone holds the pedal in.

one question if the clutch is rusted to the flywheel would the car jump with the clutch pedal pushed in? it's like i dont have the pedal pushed in. starts and revs fine out of gear, but in gear the clutch does nothing. great pedal feel. if this is the way rusted would act i'll check. the last time i drove the car was about three weeks earlier at a wet autocross.thanks again.

The pedal is still working, the TO bearing is moving the PP but the disc being stuck to the flywheel acts as if the PP is still exerting pressure on it. With the trans in neutral the flywheel is still spinning the disc but inside the trans the input shaft is disconnected.

In other words, yes, is sound's like it could be a rusted disc. I still don't know of the best way to deal with it though.

I would Put it in first gear and try to start it with the clutch in. It will jump, and then start. If the clutch disc is stuck to the flywheel it will probably break free. Just be very careful you don't run into anything. If it does not free up, and you can't get it out of gear, the brakes should be enough to kill the engine.
If that doesn't work, take it apart. Sorry.

How much free play is there in the clutch pedal? If it is hard to measure at the pedal, check under the car and see if there is a lot of free play with the exposed cable where it goes over the wheel and to the release arm. You should just be able to deflect the cable a little bit, if it is loose then tighten the adjusting nut until it is just about gone and try it (11mm wrench). If there is only a single nut or the lock nut is not tight they can back out and usually it happens all at once. Good luck.
