Just got a 2.0 - Where do I start?

I just picked up a parts car and it has a 2.0. I was told by the previous owner that it has new heads (possibly rebuilt but I'm not sure because he mentioned this to my friend, not me). From the outside, they look super clean and they are definately 3-stud. The car also has new ss heat exchangers but they are for 1.8 (funny, my 1.8 has ss exchangers for 2.0)

I have had a 1.8 and I've gotten myself pretty educated on L-Jet but I don't know a thing about D-Jet.

Anyone have any advice? The car currently doesn't run as it has a dead battery and I will be pulling the engine for my own car. I will do all the basic maintenance like replacing all the vacuum lines but I could sure use any tips that i can get.

Thanks in advance.................Vern

D-jet info: http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders . Contains just about everything that is currently known about D-jetronic fuel injection.

Care and feeding of a 2.0 motor is pretty similar to that of a 1.8. Keep the oil clean, keep the valves adjusted, and make sure the ignition is happy. Replace the fuel and vacuum lines every few years or any time they get brittle or leak at all.

Inspect the heads as carefully as you can. The 2.0 ones like to crack in the short-radius bend of the exhaust port, and around the spark plug holes. (The latter are usually only visible from inside the combustion chamber.)
