Frozen ride height adjusting bolt - Help

The ride height on our 1972 914 is lower on the right side by at least 3/4" on both the front and back. I tried to adjust the front but the adjusting bolt is frozen. I have applied every penetrating oil I know but no luck. Also the 8 mm allen recess is starting to round. I did jack the car up to relax the pressure and still no luck.

Anyone know of a miracle oil? Any tricks after the bolt has been rounded? We could always use a little heat but that seems a bit risky. What have the rest of you done to free these? If I need to replace them, do they just screw all the way out?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

yes, they will screw all the out.....no problem with heat, just use some common sense and you'll be fine....

replace with the correct hardware (new if possible, otherwise a good parts should be okay)

If it's really hosed, cut the adjuster. Then pull the eccentric off the end of the torsion bar, get a used one from the 914 Parts For Sale BBS, and stick that one in.

Then again, if the adjuster is that rusted together, the eccentric may be rusted pretty well onto the end of the torsion bar....

Thanks for the replies thus far. I am getting a couple of used bolts. I will try heating to get the old ones out. I a fairly certain they will get destroyed. Will probably have to get innovative in getting them out as I previously posted the allen ends are rounded.
