Question How to remove A/C equip?

I have a '74, 2.0 with dealer-installed A/C unit that I want to remove. Is there a tech article out there on how to do this? Any "tricks of the trade" or advice to make it easier? (Appears to me that I have to remove the A/C compressor in order to replace the oil cooler seals!) As always, everyone's help to this novice is appreciated!

not aware of any tech article on A/C removal. it's probably obvious to remove all screws and connections. EPA would probably like you to evacuate the freon, if any, still in the system. when replacing the oil cooler seals, you don't completely remove the oil cooler but instead, move the cooler to provide clearance to replace the seals. i think there is no way to completely remove the cooler with the engine still in the car. that said, i don't know how the compressor affects seal replacement. BTW, welcome to the east coast and consider yourself invited to the 2nd mid-atlantic mid-engined ramble in mid sept. search 914club for kerry914 who will be hosting the gathering.

I might be interested in your under dash unit. Let me know before you toss it out, we should be able to work something out.

Yes welcome

If you up to a drive bring you car up to my place and I will remove the stuff

I installed the A/C into mine and know how to remove the parts. If you get a patch panel for the front trunk (where teh condenser is) I can weld that in too..

E-mail me and we can set up a time

Cheers
Kerry
