boxed trailing arms?

Is it worth doing this for a car that sees no track action? Cars apart and a friend says its a must. I never said he was smart. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

If you do it...do it in a jig. The heat can warp the arms and make it difficult to align the finished product....

If your car is not going to be "tracked" or autocrossed, and your trailing arms are in good condition, and you're not building a mother of a 4 cylinder or converting to a -6 or an -8, you don't really need to do this. It's good if you plan on loading the suspension (see introductory collegate sentance), but if not, I wouldn't worry about it. . .Others may disagree, but that's my humble opinion.

FWIW I've been asking around about the same thing, and lots of guys are telling me no (it's not worth it) even for cars that are track-driven, unless they are high-HP full race cars, in which case they will have all kinds of chassis reinforcements as well as a full cage or tube frame.

Don't do it. It increases the unsprung weight. I have yet to see one of these arms bent due to suspension loading. Run what you have and be happy.
Good luck
