Ignition/Starter Problems

I think I have seen this issue on the BBS but couldn't really find an answer...car will not turn over from ignition! Appear to have tracked it to the ignition.

The starter does not seem to get any power when ignition is turned on for some reason. Did test on red wire coming into ignition switch and it is bringing 12v but again when the key is turned to start no power is going to the yellow????? I have put in a new ignition switch. It did turn over a couple of years ago ( it has been a project now for 6 years), so it did work.

I know the seat belt logic MESS could hinder and that has been disabled. I tested the yellow wire straight from the ignition so it isn't getting lost somewhere in between. There isn't any other safety lock to say, like brake or clutch depressed etc is there?

Would hate to have to rig up a manual starter button if there is something I am missing to check.

Thanks for your time and input!

Steve,
First rule out the ignition switch as still causing the problem. Pull the connector off the back of the switch, then make a jumper to connect across the yellow wire and one of the heavy red wires (verify presence of 12V at the red wires). A momentary jumper connection should run the starter. If it doesn't run then you still have a fault in the wire between there and the starter solenoid. If the starter motor runs then your problem is still the ignition switch or the key assembly. Good luck...

By the way - I have had new ignition switches not make reliable contact in the starter 'on' position. Probably due to the whole key assembly being worn out after 30 years,
