help with rear trailing arm bushings needed
Greetings, I am updating my 1.7 914's suspension bushings as the p.o. installed Weltmeister plastics all around without sizing them. A few years later, and they all squeak and creak. I have finished the fronts and have now disassembled the rears. I have the trailing arms pulled out from the consoles, but I can't tell what is suppossed to rotate relative to what. Does the (what appears to be) through bolt remain pinched, and the arm turns on the bushings? Do the bushings stay fixed relative to the arms and the whole assembly turns in the console brackets? Any ideas on how to get the old bushings out? I need to tune this stuff up and I'm just an old 911 guy. Help enlighten me to the ways of the 914!!
Thanks, Peter |

Yup the thru rod should turn inside the bushings. the bushngs should be tight to the trailing arm.
You might need something to press out the shaft. Going to have to be creative here or take the whole damn thing off and go see a shop with a press. You might get lucky and be able to ream out the bushings to match fit the rod lube them up and re install. I added grease zerks to all my bushings. so far so good. |
