possible 2.0?

So I just got a "parts" car. supposed to be a '70 1.7. In looking at it I think it may be more interesting - The car is a late 69 registered as a 70, but the engine has the three bolt pattern and an engine # GC005302 - If I've got my facts straight this engine is a 75 or 75 2.0liter - can anybody confirm? Is there anything else I should look for?
Thanks!

Yes, that would be a 2.0L from a '75 or '76 914 http://tunacan.net/t4/reference/case.htm .

Lots of PO have installed 2.0L motors into early cars as they go like stink in the lite cars! A GC engine code is a late 2.0L so look for plugs in the air injection ports on the heads.

less smog on the early cars too right? do you guys think its worth it to try and fix this one and sell the 73 1.7, or maybe put the 2.0 in the 73...is it a big difference? of course, i guess i should see if it runs first - gotta fix that fuel pump!

put the bigger engine in the better tub, (if you want to go through the effort) or just leave things as they are.

what he said, oh and put the later doors on, or at least try to keep them, heavier, but superior window regulators. You pick the best tub, and put all the best parts on the one you keep, simple.

obvious 2.0 giveaway is the intake runners on the heads. 1.7/1.8 cars with have 4 studs, 2.0's will have three.

Sounds like a later 2.0. you scored.

Anti-roll bars are good to have so you might want to check if one of the cars has them.

Racer Girl: Look very close at the early car. From what I've seen from the cars we have cut-up, the early car are better made and tend to be less rusty than the 75's and 76's. Aside from the fact that they wiegh less. I have a 71 with late doors and 2L with side shifter. It wieghed less than 2100 lbs.
