Question Not sure what I found...

A friend of mine has a relative in Mexico who is trying to sell his dads old car. From what I am told, the car was built in late 1948.

It is 2 doors, wing windows, no porsche emblem only the lettering on the front, the engine is in the rear and has a vertical grill 1 foot wide by 2.5 feet tall (guestimate on his part). The vin is so old and worn and can't even make out one of the numbers.. looks like it was a 2 digit vin. no reverse lights.. only 2 red tail lights, no mirror, and 2 piece windshield.

from the photo's I've seen... it looks more like a VW bug streched out, with a subtle hint of porsche. The color is light baby blue I think. Rear seat looks like it was an afterthough by placing some cushions on the rear decking... very boxy.

The current owner doesn't know what he wants to sell it for, he does not know if it runs... but he does say it looks clean and that the paint still shines. It hasn't been started or driven in 25 years or more... since his father died. He is getting ready to build a new addition to his home, and it is just "taking up space". Someone help???

I can't find anything about a 1948 Porsche... there is no known model info from what the owner is saying.... he is asking 1,000.00 US dollars.

I would buy it just to see what it is. Be careful it could be a VW with Porsche lettering.

Did they ever make a Bug with a split windshield?? I'm not seeing anything.... I did find something though in a book titled "Porsche A Tradition of Greatness" written by Richard M Langworht. It looks like a 1948 to 1950 GmÜnd 356/2 Coupe.

To early to tell.... but with all the info they gave me, I think it could be one... but I HIGHLY doubt it... i don't think a find like this would come my way... prolly a 69 bug made to look like one with parts from something else.... only other people get great finds like that.

Probably a Vee-dub kit car of some kind. But who knows? It could be one of those barn-find cars that everyone dreams about. Post some pictures and we can try commenting on it, or just get it and see what it is...
