To run an oil PRESSURE gauge you will need the VDO dual circuit sender that runs the pressure and idjut lght. The temp sender is a seperate unit.

Ok, here's my 2 cents worth.
If your car has never had an oil temg gauge before, you will need to acquire a "taco plate". On the bottom of a type 4 engine, there is a 3" round plate that is off to the side. This gets replaced with the "taco plate" and has a mounting point for a temp sender. If you have a '72 & later car, the wiring should already exist and there will be a wire near the battery that is currently not being used (I believe the wire is green). This attaches to a short wire that goes to the sender. Then, near the shifter, under the carpet will be a group of unused wires that are for the temp gauge, clock, and volt gauge that would normally be mounted in the optional center consol. It sounds like you are not planning on going the console route and want to mount the temp light in an existing dash gauge. This is not my area of expertise but in case you are not aware, there is an optional gauge for the 914 that's called a combo gauge and is exactly the same as the left gauge with the brake warning light. The "combo gauge" has an additional oil temp gauge at the top. Hope this helps........................Vern Last edited by Tidybuoy; 05-12-2006 at 02:33 PM.. |
