Carb linkage. different setups

I've noticed some carb linkage setups have the linkage towards the back and then some have it towards the front, with the accel. cable coming from between the firewall and engine.

Is it a matter of preference or is there something more ?

Well you need a support mount/part that mounts to the engine so that the throttle cable shaft can be anchored to and then the cable can pull the bar.

Is the bracket in the first pic for routing the cable too?

also I assume the cable support mount you mention can be home fabricated.. ?

Sorry, missed the bracket in the pic.....I assume the cable end is threaded?

You CAN use a nut on one side with a washer, push it thru a hole in the mount, washer and nut on the OTHER side, tighten and that is where you then decide where to position the arm on the linkage. The arm can move360 degrees in most cases.

It's trial and error on the correct setup.

I don't see any end pivots that usually mount to the carbs to hold the throttle bar in place, maybe you just didn't picture them. If not you
will need to look into that.

Thanks guys...

I'm using a new stock throttle cable..

Joe, 49mpg is amazing. I told my dad about that and his jaw dropped.

What's the difference between this linkage and a CB or triad?

The end pivots are hanging on the carbs so they weren't pictured
