16 MPG - What can I do??

I am really disappointed that I am only getting 16 MPG in the city, barely 20 on the highway - what could the problem be? Is there any thing I should check? A 4 cylinder that barely puts out 60 HP and only gets 16 MPG does not sound right? HELP!

is it carbureted or D-Jet? if it is DJET maybe a faulty MPS or vacuum leaks would kill your mileage

My 3.0L 200hp 914-6 used to get 16mpg. Webers suck up fuel. A FI 1.7L should get 25mpg with its amazing 60hp (I used to have the same thing, 3.0 is much better)

Lindas car went 295 miles on 6 gallons of gas. 49.16 MPG. If she'd gone 5 more miles she would have hit the magic 50 MPG mark. You need to do something about your injection to get that thing up to 30 MPG. Oh and now she gets to drive it every where, Portland, Flagstaff, Moab and next week Ventura. She likes to show it off.
1.7 stock cam carbed.
