I think this is one of the best looking bumbers I have seen yet for the 914. I got this picture out of the Oct. 1994 Porsche Panorama. The article was "Racing At The Bridge" by. Ken Geiger (northern New Jersey), p.23, and the caption was "George Schirripa (#29) placed second in Class E. The author's 914 (#11) was a mechanical DNF."

Right click on the x and go to properties. The link to the web site where the picture is should be there. Or try this.
http://www.geocities.com/montgomery.jp/cars/914-bumper.jpg That looks like an aftermarket one I saw offered a couple of years back. Tweeks I think. Its called the IMSA airdam or something like that. But it is IMSA not sure on the airdam part. ------------------ CWP/VIR 72 914 L20E in rusto. 73 914 L20E 2.0L in resto. http://members.rennlist.com/a914lover [This message has been edited by Conrad W Peden (edited 06-01-2001).] |

I currently have that same fiberglass bumper (installed by PO) attached/molded-in to my car. It's known as an IMSA airdam, and AA still sells the thing (last time I checked).
Its appearance doesn't appeal to me (squares off the front end way too much) and I plan to replace it with a recently acquired 916-type frond end. I'll try to get a pic of it on my car; let me know if you're interested. Heck, throw me a few bucks (I ain't greedy), you pay the shipping, and it's all yours. Unless you're in a pissin' hurry, you'll have to wait a while until I can swap 'em and color-match the replacement. |

check with AIR
http://www.americaninternationalracing.com/ This is the piece they offer and as a company, should be a little more reliable than AA plus they are the suppliers to AA. ![]() ------------------ Dave 1970 914/6 1995 Golf GTI-VR6 1996 Passat TDI djm914-6@mediaone.net |

I saw that one too.
Sure hope those scoops dont slow him down too much. ![]() Nevermind, it does say 'Turbo' so how much diff can it make. But what is the 'Non K Turbo'or is that 'Von K'? That, my friends, is an original 914-6 GT. The car is currently owned by Llew Kinst here in the Bay Area, and has been restored to original condition. (Orange #1, black and light blue front bumper, original body style, etc.)
At the point the photo was taken (in the mid-80s, perhaps?), the car had a turbocharged 911 engine of some kind in it. I don't remember the details, but I do remember the turbo. It was owned by a guy named either something that started with "Von K", or possibly just "Von K". (Hey, it happens--I went to school with a guy named Pieter Van Es.) I forget if it was Excellence or Panorama, but one of those magazines had a story about Kinst's restoration of the car, and it talked a bit about the state it was in pre-resto. I believe that it ran IMSA as a prototype, and was halfway-competitive! --DD |
