How to Remove Rear Chrome Bumper?

I want to replace the black rubber strip on the rear chrome bumper of my '73 914. I think the bumper has to be removed first? Where exactly are all the bolts that need to be removed to remove the bumper?

The upper two bolts are inside the trunk. Look just above the floor. The lower two are under the trunk floor. You may have to remove the muffler to get at them, or you may be able to work around the muffler.

Remember to disconnect the wires from the license plate lights, or the bumper will be hanging from them! Label the wires, or you will wind up popping the fuse that runs some of your instrument lights.

Thanks. Do the wires unplug or do I remove the light from the rubber? Unscrew them?

The wires unplug, but the connections are inside the bumper top rubber part. Remove the screws that hold the lights in, label the wires (and/or the terminals on the lights), and unplug 'em.
