Why multiple 914 Websites?

A little help here - why three 914 websites?

914club.com
914world.com
clubNARP.com

There are probably more that these.

Hey Sergio

my take on the 3 different sites

914club = going more commercial

914world = grassroots

narp = more of a BS'n place to hang out

Sergio, you didn't list Pelican and Roadglue? Yahoo Groups too.

It's a buffet, try them all or take your pick.

sorry I didn't get to talk to you at SEMA, you surprised me giving me your business card...

Felix,

I'm getting old. I didn't list the Pelican 914 site (which I am on the most) nor Roadglue (which I haven't been on in ages).

It was great seeing your 914 at SEMA - I believe it was the only one there - at least the only one I saw.

Short story:

Roadglue was around for a long time, went on hiatus. Came back last month, and is going well.

Here is, well--here.

The 914club site imploded because of some sort of conflict with the Powers That Be in the club/on the site. The clubNARP site was set up during the lead-up to this, by 914clubbers who wanted their own place to hang out and BS.

The 914World site seems to be the old 914club server under a different domain name (keeping all of the messages that were on the old site), run by many of the old Club admins. It just came up between Xmas and New Years.

The current 914club site is run by some of the rest of the old Club admins, and is supposedly working on getting copies of the old Club archives incorporated into the new site. It went on-line during the whole "implosion", and is growing steadily.

Mike,

Like you, I have cut back on TTs but do show up to instruct at some. You should drop by one of the Thunderhill TTs this year. Some drivers, like yours truly, miss you - not all, mind you, just some ;>)

The official 914world response.....

The two people who ran the old 914Club site have decided to part ways. Rather than having a long, drawn-out legal battle regarding the 'lawful' owner of the content, both parties agreed that a fair solution was to clone the information. The content you see on 914World.com is here as a result of that agreement. The 914Club LLC has received a duplicate copy of the content as it was at the time of the dispute (sent on Dec. 22, 2006). Despite rumors that you might have heard, no data was ever stolen or lost.

The 914World leadership team is comprised of SirAndy (currently retired), McMark, Seanery, MikeZ, Gint, Aaron Cox, Eric_Shea, ClayPerrine and Lawrence. The core group of volunteer admins have been serving the 914 community for some time and look forward to continuing that service. Our primary interest is in keeping the information free and letting the membership shape the community, without becoming a commercially oriented site.

We recognize that this turn of events has been difficult for the community, but unfortunately there was no way around the ethical differences that ultimately caused the split. The 914World.com leadership team has no quarrel with any other forums, we'd rather leave the past behind and focus on the people and our cars.

Then you must be one of those rare and lucky people who never did anything stupid on-track while Chili was the Safety steward... Or whom, like me, immediately came in and confessed their sins.

Anyone who persisted in acting like a dumb*ss and wound up on Chili's bad side probably remembers it to this day...

Most, like you, came in and said what happened. I will never forgot the one that came in and started on this long story on how "it was not my fault". After about a couple of minutes or so, he said "I am just digging a large hole for myself" I said yes and away he went.

It is and was amazing how personal responsibility works.

As Chilli would attest, I had more than a few one-way front of grid sessions with him - with me in the drivers seat and as an instructor in the passenger seat. I always instructed my students (and demonstrated) that the chats were much shorter if you let Chilli do most of the talking.
