Possible to Rotate 2.0 Motor Out of Car?
Is it possible to get a wrench on the front of 2.0 motor and manually turn it over with the engine out of the car? So is the nut at the crankshaft pulley easily accessible?

On a stock 2.0, there is no crankshaft pulley. There is a bolt that holds the fan onto the end of the crank... That is accessible through the fan, but you will need an extension to turn it. You can also turn the engine to some extent just by grabbing the fan by hand and turning it--or more than some extent if the plugs are out and the engine is not rusted or frozen.
I also know people who have put a wrench on the alternator pulley nut (with the fan belt installed, of course!) and used that to turn the motor over. --DD

Thanks Dave. I'm removing the engine on my '74 2.0 that's been sitting idle since '97. I've sprayed some fogging oil into the spark plug holes. Was going to attach the transmission and just manually turn over the engine by turning the rear wheel while in gear, but I think I should remove the engine and change the oil cooler seals to be safe. Also will change the pushrod tube seals. I don't want to have to mess with oil leaks, after starting an engine that hasn't started in 10 years. Anything else I should change out, while I have the engine out other than the plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, points, injector seals and fuel and vacuum hoses?

While I had mine out I also did the CHT sensor, the alternator belt, the rear brake lines and the engine compartment seals, and some general cleaning.
