Shift bushing
I just bought some bushing for my shift linkage and might have gotten the wrong ones. I have a 72 with what looks like a sideshift. I am trying to replace the firewall bushing an wonder if the bushings i have may fit or can be made or maybe whats the trick of getting them in?
thanks

There is a very specific "converter bushing" for an early car with a side-shift conversion. If you don't have that, you're not going to get everything to fit and work well.
If the bushing you have seems too large to fit the hole in the firewall, then it might be the right one. Try heating it in just-shy-of-boiling water to soften it up, and pressing it into place without the shift rod going through it. Then you can feed the shift rod through. --DD
