I just put in a 74 2.0 into a 72 1.7 body and the 2.0 has a oil temp sensor woth a wire to pulg in. How do you hook up the oil temp sensor to get it to the gauge up front? Is there another wire hard wired to make it work? Did the 2.0's have a wire to connect to the back coming from the front? Also where can i get a cheap center console(besides salvage yard)???? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

I just ran a my own wire from my sender, to the front, through the center tunnel using the Speedometer cable hole... Seems to work great, and was easy to run.

The 73+ cars had another wire in the harness that carried the signal. You can add a wire--you can run it as Kevin did, or you can add it to the main wiring harness, the way I did.

I just wish fixing oil leaks were as easy as adding a wire

Hello
The wire is in the main wire loom and the connector is behind the instrument cluster. You can find them quite easy by following the shematic. You also can convert the wireloom ( Right now you have the problem with the blower anyhow ) Euro 2,0 allways came stock with oiltemp in the Fuelinstrument. Only if you had the console the instrument wheremoved to there. Donīt know US cars only had seen some 50 and they followed same rules. |
