voltage gauge drops to zero

1975-914-1.7; when the lights are turned on the factory voltage gage drops to zero! All of the lights work properly and nothing is smoking!!!! Removed all of the light fuses and it still drops to zero when the switch is turned on. Gage reads normal when any other accessories are turned on.

Appreciate your insight as it has me stumped.

Ritchie

Replace the fuses; one is blown. They can look OK and still be blown--usually removing the fuse in question will show you, because the metal parts will fall apart. Clean the "fingers" that hold the fuses with a wire brush, as well.
