Electric Car
I have a 1974 914-4 1.8. Have been reading about the "TESLA ROADSTER". Being a retired engineer I was thinking about what it would take to convert the 914 to a TESLA type roadster.

Google should turn up quite a few electric 914 web pages. One of them Otmar's) is a 1/4 mile record-holder, or at least was for a good while.
Otmar's car: http://www.evcl.com/914/ Others: http://www.electroauto.com/gallery/vp914.shtml http://www.austinev.org/evalbum/573.html http://www.evworld.com/archives/hobbyists/914.html http://saccityweb.com/seva/tony/tony_my914.html A lengthy discussion on a conversion in progress (slow progress, but still!): http://www.roadglue.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62 ...And there are many more. The 914 makes a good EV, as there is a whole lot of room for batteries! --DD

A couple more interesting links, just for background:
http://www.acpropulsion.com/ http://www.pmlflightlink.com/index.html http://www.electrovaya.com/innovation/zev_tech.html I'd got plug in hybrid if I was doing it. Perhaps even 4wd (electric drive one end, internal combustion on the other)... -Pete |
