Weber IDF guys: How do you connect them up?

How do you guys connect your carbs (Weber IDF’s) to the crossbar linkage?
I mean, what kind of levers, heim links, balls, sockets, downlinks etc. do you use to connect your carbs throttle plates up to the crossbar linkage?

About a year ago I rebuilt the carbs and while I was at it I put on all new throttle levers, heim links and all the fixings.
Car has a CB performance crossbar linkage. Now a year later there is a fair bit of slop in the parts right where the throttle shaft exits the carb.
Found this as I tried to balance the carbs. Now I want to take a good hard look at this area and redo it correctly.

Whats the best setup?

Thanks Guys

Curt

Throw the linkage in the trash?

That damn thing drove me absoluetly crazy. OK so I might be a perfectionist in this area but. un-synched carbs are just wrong!

Best you can hope to achieve is "pretty close" and for "a little while"

Spherical rod ends with tight fitting bolts helps. The big slop is in the actual pivot of the hex bar. if one side is sloppy it will not provide consistant throttle control.

The ends of the throttle shafts have to be very snug (almost wedge mated) to the lever pieces.

I have a CNC machined pivot that mounts to the case and spherical reach rods going horizontal out to each carb. if you sneeze one one side the other side moves too.

HI Joe

Thanks for the reply.

I am trying to figure out what (and where) to buy the small bit pieces that go right on the end of the throttle shaft.

I notice that on my carbs, one sides throttle plate linkage arm is different than the carb on the other side.

I dont know why this is. I got these pieces new from CB performance. Wondering if a mistake was made on my part when I ordered them.

Regarding the crossbar, looks like people here like the TriadWest crossbar. May actually at some point spring for that one but for the
moment I have to get the slop out of the setup right at the carb.

Thanks again.

Welder and a dremel
Make the hole fit tight, like almost press fit and the shaft flats.

I messed around with the cross bar slop for ever. shimming, machining turning blue in the face.
I was going to fit some roller bearings on each end. but still couldn't solve the end play because of how the engine grows when hot. the springs in the ends sort of work but still allow the shaft to move side to side under load and this changes the angle of the reach rods.

Go to the internet Mc carr Master. or whatever it is. Aircooled.net sell small pieces too.
Some of the Roundy round race shops have some real spiffy stuff. I am going to them for my car more and more.
