Removing the Front Fenders on a '72 914
Hi Guys,
In the next several months, I'm gonna have to prepare my '72 for painting. I have some slight rust where the front fender meets the cowling down under the little rubber strip that is NLA. I understand that the fender is tack welded onto the body there, but I have also heard that it is bolted, glued and tacked nearer to the front. I don't want to do a Half Fast job, so I know I'm gonna have to deal with this issue before I put good paint on this car. Also, even tho the little rubber seal is listed as NLA, what could I use instead? I'm thinking it looks a lot like a short windshield wiper blade. Any advice, suggestions, etc? Thanks in advance, Rick |

A 911 fender seal can be made to work, a little cutting and presto a new seal

Spot welded in about a zillion places. (Or at least that's what it seems like when you're trying to cut all of them!!) IIRC, the front and top are relatively easy to find the welds, the rear part (by the door jamb) is harder.
