Ok, honestly, how hard is it to replace the syncros in the 901 sideshifter? 1st and 2nd grind almost every time I shift. I have all the standard tools: torque wrench, feeler gauges, hex heads, torx heads, sockets, etc.
Is it a matter of simply disassembling and replacing the synchros or do I have to make all kids of wear measurements and adjustments? Does it all simply go back together or will i have to set things in an exactly measured place? I'm your average DIYer with average skill, is this something I want to tackle or just let a shop handle it? |

Ostensibly, it is not that difficult and the 1st reverse one can be done with drivetrain in car, I am dubious of this myself

It is quite possible.
For tearing into the rest of the trans, see: http://home.san.rr.com/pb914/ --DD
