Houston Tranny Clinic, April 26th, 2008

Well, the votes are in! The clinic will be April 26th, starting at 9:00AM

Can someone make this a sticky?

We will be tearing apart a 901 transmission. If you ever wanted to see the inside on one, now is the time! The 915 is very similar, but a bit beefier. I have a 915 which we can also pull apart.

We will put the mystery and myth of the 901 behind us. It is much much much easier than rebuilding a 911's engine.

Part one, dis-assembly. Or, Crap! Where did that roll to?

Part two, inspection, along with some differences between the different types of 901. The good, the bad, and the "OMG did that come out of a running car?"

Part three, put the new parts in you have and can afford, and how to live with the rest.

Part four, re-assembly. Tips, tricks and how to keep the blood sacrifice to a minimum.

It usually takes me about 5 hours to do a Tranny. I expect us to take a bit longer, as we'll be talking, staring, looking, eating burgers, drinking beer etc.

If time permits, I'll show you how to align the shift-rod and gear selector. This will be on a 914, a 911 will be similar, but easier! And maybe we'll look at rebuilding the gear selector, the source of a lot of shifting slop.

I have someone who is rebuilding a 901 from a 914. If someone wants to rebuild a 901 from a 911, please contact me, as this will help the demonstration.

Now, a few have asked my if there is a fee for the clinic. No. BUT, I am riding in the MS150 (see my sig) and I think a donation is better, for both of us. We both get the satisfaction of helping people with MS, and you get a Tax write off as well! How many times can you say that!

I would also suggest people bring a supply of their favorite tasty beverage, maybe some hotdogs & buns, burger & buns, chips, soda, cigars and firearms. Well, it IS Texas, after all.

To sign up for the clinic, please chime in on the 911 forum thread and click on the donate link below!

Thanks,

And yes, it really is red, or used to be.

Hey, I had one of that last type. As in, a professional mechanic saying "I don't think I've seen one in this bad a shape actually drive in under its own power." (It even needed new spider gears in the diff! Moral: Stay away from Redline MTL in your 901 gearbox!)

Everybody go to the 911 board and check the new post. Also the directions to my house and my cell phone number are there.
I need an e-mail from everyone who will attend, so I can supply a list to the guard gate.
