The torch has been passed, (also, Zeke drives a 914-6 for the 1st time)

Yes, the torch (maybe not a good word ) has passed as Dave Cardone (that's his user name and real name), a 912 owner, acquires Mr9146's very nice ride. I'm sure there will be other posts about this, but I had the privilege of test driving the car. I have never been in a six, much less driven one, so the thrill can't be understated.

I see now why it's so addicting. Nice car, Dave (and Marco sniff, sniff), congrats.

Sorry, Dave, the batteries died on the camera and the other pics did not take.

What do you want to tell us Zeke? Are you saying you sold your 4-banger and now has been bitten by the sixer's virus after a test drive in another car (a 914-6?). You can at least elaborate the experience as like a more elemental boxster with noisier 911 experience.

Milt, glad you enjoyed Marco's (um, "my?") car today. It's a hoot to drive.

By the way, I'm looking for a 914-6 emblem. If anyone's got one, let me know!

Yes, "torch" is a bad word given the experience I had with the 912E being on fire.

And, no, the 912E is not for sale!

Well, now that I've had a few hours to think about it, they are two different cars. My old race car was just that, a race car. Sure, I had some bad luck with some used carbs I didn't understand well enough to be running the big track at Willow Springs on a 106* degree day. But, my old car was pure raw race car, like a go kart and just as rough. It won first time out under Mike's wheelmanship and I KNOW he hadn't touched the suspension setup before going out. He is now going to up the spring rate in the rear to compensate for the heavier six. But that car was not like Dave's. AFA being bitten, I'm not tempted to go to a 914 again.

I really liked Dave's car. It is a smooooth machine. Took me about half a dozen quiet runs up to 4th to get the tranny setup. I think another few minutes in the car, I could hustle it pretty good. But, I'll leave that to Dave. I know it'll do it because I've been present when the car was running the canyons. I only saw it when we stopped. What does that tell you? It is fast.

This is a road machine par excellence. The comparison to a Boxster is yours, not mine. A Boxster never came to my mind. Not a bad analogy, though.

AFA "elemetal" goes, my 911 is way more primal than most cars, Dave's included. My car snorts, spits, whines, whistles, bounces left and right on the freeway grooves and just plain screams. It'll wear you out soon. I wouldn't want it any other way. But, I drove it to Monterey at 70MPH and arrived relaxed and refreshed. I'll have to drive it like that again someday

For those that don't know the car or TLG Porsche, the car was converted from a 73 914 and now has a 2.2S motor with MFI. It's really a 2.4S since it has a 2.4 crank and rods, but the case is 2.2S.

Anyway, it's gots lots of goodies that convinced me it was worth it for a conversion. It's tons of fun to drive and I don't really even know how to shift it well just yet.

I'm glad you like the car, Dave. I couldn't be more comfortable with the car's new home.

Quick story: My favorite game was to pull up next to Boxter Ss on the freeway, put the car in 4th and run 'er up around 5800, then wink at the Boxter driver and whack the throttle WFO. Hit the limiter and shift!!!

I'm such a child

It IS fun to drive. The sounds it makes are otherworldly, with that high-strung mfi'd motor about 15 inches from your ear!

Take the air filter plenum off and listen to it.

Marco warned me about that! I wish someone made a part to adapt individual ITG filters to the stacks.
