please help

I am trying to help my father get his 914 running better but have come across a strange problem and don't know much about them.I own a auto restoration shop but don't know much about the engines on these cars. I changed the vacuum lines and it is running a lot better. The problem I am now having is after I drive the car for about an hour and it is up to good operating temperature, if I stop the car and let it set for about 15 minutes it will not start until it cools back down or if it starts it has no power. The coil is new a thought maybe it is some sort of sensor? If anyone can please give me their input I would really appreciate it. thanks

I didn't see where it is D-Jet or L-Jet and the FI system is investigated differently depending on what you have. Some things in common are the coil, check the resistance against specs; vapor lock, check the fuel pressure for the system you have; spark, pull a plug and see if it sparks when cranked which is a pain when the engine is hot; 12 volts to the coil if no spark as key switch could be failing; intake runners tight when engine is hot and that they have the correct gaskets.

Does it crank when you try to start it?
