Diff question
I have a diff out of a 901 4 speed tranny. Will that diff work in a 5 speed 901? Are all the 901 diffs the same? They look the same but I just wanted to make sure.
Thanks |

They all have 901 part numbers.
I forget, can you just swap the diff, or do you also have to swap the ring gear? If the latter, then you're in for a lot of measuring and shimming. --DD

The only difference between a 4 speed 901 and a 5 speed 901 is the input shaft and the reverse gear setup.
The differentials are all the same. But if you swap the diff, you need the ring gear and the pinion gear, plus the proper tools to setup the differential in the new case. It is NOT easy to swap one.
