901 help! Replaced 1st gear, forgot to secure intermediate section!

I made a mistake!

I installed a 1st gear set on my 901 in my 914 & forgot to secure the intermediate section before I started loosening the 30mm & 17mm, dislodging the intermediate section from the main case by about 3/8". Because of this, I've misaligned the shift shaft (that protrudes out of the side of the transmission on the side-shift transmission that connects to the shift linkage) by doing this & cannot continue until I find out how to realign.

Ive tried to find the alignment by moving the 30mm & 17mm back & forth & therefore moving the intermediate section back & forth, trying to get the shift-shaft back & forth, but no-go.

I'm stuck. I HAVE To have the car off the lift by tomorrow night for a video shoot & do not want to have to tow it semi-disassembed 40 miles way to get it fixed:

anyone?? anyone??

Mark
