1971 914 shifter help please.
Hi Folks
Going through my linkage and here is my question on this 1971 914. Does this look like a stock shifter. I don't see the shift ball with the Plastic cup. Could someone have installed a short shift kit in the past. Pic inclosed. Thanks in advance 71 914 76 911S 81 911SC 66 912 V8 ![]()

I may be seeing things, but it looks like the shift rod is bent more than normal.

The bottom also looks like a side-shifter gear shift lever, not the tail-shif one your car would have originally come with.

Definately a side-shift shifter. Does your car have a side shifter installed? That is very common. If so, and you want to replace your bushings...just order parts from a 73+ car.
