i need help...quick....1 have a 1974 914 2.0...i bought a center consol...i hooked everything up...but the oil temp. guage dose'nt work.....thats probably because there is not temp. sending unit.....right....i bought a new sender...where does it go?....is there a wire there for it?.....please help.....thank you everyone for all the help....john

http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4376&highlight=OIL+TEMP You need a special plate on the bottom of your engine to thread the sending unit into (the picture shows the wire coming off the sending unit. It's a 2-piece deal - You screw your sending unit into the plate and install the other protective plate with a hole for your wire on top. Look on the bottom of your engine for it. I believe most cars are already wired for the unit. There should be a green wire not connected to anything in the engine compartment in the battery tray corner. If you don't have this wire you can just run a wire straight from your console harness to the unit. HTH |

Oil Temp Guage
The second round plate on the bottom of the engine (right side looking from the front of the car) is where the temp sensor is mounted. Cars with center consoles had a plate with the sensor in it.
