Impellar timing marks- questions and information

The timing mark on the cooling blower impeller does it mark TDC or 5 degrees or 27 degrees BTDC on my 2.0 impeller. Are all the impeller marks at the same spot?? IE 1.7,1.8 and 2.0. Thanks for the information! If they are different how do I determine which impeller I have? Should a person cut the additional marks into the impeller while its removed and how to do so.

The impellers are marked differently. The 1.7 and 2.0 generally have a "0" for TDC and a line "|" for 27 deg BTDC, which is the timing mark for both. The 1.8s usually only have the line, which is their timing mark.

You can mark the fan with paint (quick and easy) or by removing it and marking the base with stamps. I used paint on mine...

Yea I have one fan that I did the colored paint thing. It worked ok. Now I have a real timing light and it does all that RPM and advance thing for me. Just have TDC marked.

It's still nice to have a paint mark for TDC even when you have a tining light with the advance dial on it. Easier than looking at the base of the fan...
