Flywheel tolerances
Does anyone know what the Flywheel tolerances Are?
I brought mine into a auto machine shop to have it checked and to be turned. They turned it and took off the same amount from the pressure plate resting surface. I asked him if was still within the usable measurements. He said he couldn't find out those numbers. The nut decided to resurface it anyway???? They wanted $80.00 for doing it. I won't pay them until i find out what the numbers are. I measured 22.52 mm. That is from the resting area of the pressure plate to the surface where the clutch plate touches. I hope I explained it correctly. Thanks |

If you machine the flywheel, make sure to machine the mounting plane for the pressure plate, the friction surface for the clutch disk, and the area in the middle where the flywheel bolts mount. If you do not, you run the risk of the clutch disk dragging on the bolts, with potentially unhappy results.
The "little spec book" may have the numbers in it. I have not found any for the 914-4, but the numbers for the 914-6 are in there (I think it's that book!!) and are appropriate for the 914-4. --DD
