2.0 rebuilt & running rough ? TPS ?
I need some input here guy's. My 73 2.0 dtarted running rough this past weekend. I checked the obvious things. All wires, hose, FI are all conected correctly & not loose or corroded. It idles real rough & doesn't want to go unless I'm stompin on it. When accellerating it feels fine. I took it to a buddy that did my rebuild. He's hasn't had much chance to look at it but said it was just running really rich. I replaced all my fuel injectors when I rebuilt.
What should I be looking for? Suggestions please! ![]()

If it is running really rich, a couple things to check. First, check the Head Temp sensor(Sensor 2, I think). Second, check the fuel pressure.
Check to see if spark plugs need replacing...Many things to check. Definitely check all the grounds that you can. Electrical problems are a nightmare! Paul |

Personally, I'd start at the beginning - compression, manifold vacuum, valves adjusted, ignition, checkout of all the FI components......BUT....
Check your manifold pressure sender. Use a hand vacuum pump with a gauge and verify that it holds 15 in. Hg of vacuum without leaking down (shouldn't see more than 1 in. Hg of drop in 1 minute). If it's leaking, your mixture will be rich across all load conditions. Also check your head temperature sensor - depending on the model, it should be >2 KOhms when cold, less than 100 ohms when fully warmed up. Another thing to check is your fuel pressure, should be 29 psig. |

You don't need a pressure guage to check the pressure sensor. The tipical field test at Ottos is to take the pressure sensor off and suck on it. Do the old tounge test. If it holds pressure, it is good. The only way to set up the fuel injection is with a gas analizer. If the CO is off, you can adjust it with the potentiometer on the ECU. If the CO is correct but the hydrocarbons are high, you have got other problems. Vacuum leaks, tight valves, wrong dwell, timing, the basic stuff that you should do and check before going to the gas analization test. OTTO
