I went with the smaller 75/25. Fit perfectly.

The ones that I have experience with are too small for the 914 battery tray. I have used various different solutions to fasten them in. None so far are that good; I will eventually hit on a good home-brew solution.

I got one that came with a bunch of adaptors that bolts it in pretty securely, can't recall the number. A 34R, which is the battery my integra uses, is the mini size battery that people use.

i've had a red top in mine for about 8 yrs or so now. the stock clamp didn't work, i needed the special optima clamp. the strap is just for extra measure.

75/25 refers to the model number. It has both top posts and the side screw in GM style terminals. Any Optima that ends in R is a reverse setup, meaning th epositive and negative terminals are switched. For instance, the Boxster takes a 34R, since the Positive cable won't reach the terminal in a normal 34 configuration.
Optimas are generally smaller than stock batteries, and you should use a seperate clamp or strap. The 75/25 comes with a small adaptor plate that you can use under the batttery to lift it to just the right height for the stock 914 clamp and tray.

Search Optima 75/25 at Costco. its usually in stock.

Optima has a adapter for mounting them into the 914. You can get the adapter for free with the battery if you ask for it ...

Yep, Optima is a general configuration battery with all sorts of adapters to fit most different series of batteries out there.
I have two red tops in my 2000 Ford Super Duty. and the right brackets came in the box.

If I were doing tech on the battery with the strap and clip I would fail it for autocross.

My preference for 914 battery is the odessy PC680 laying on it's side with a metal fabbed up bracket to secure in the factory 914 battery tray. Sorry got no picks as I sold the car.

Hi Folks,
I purchased a 34R optima and there are lips on the bottom of the battery that are sticking out over the ends of the tray, meaning it won't sit level. Can I clamp it in like that, or do I need to get a different battery or tray adapter? I called the folks at Optima and they said they did not have a direct fit option for a '73 914 like mine. Thanks!

I seem to remember having to use my dremel to trim the little feet off for it to fit. You can sort of see in these pics. I took pictures when I did it, but those are on the office computer.
