Clutch Questions
Last November I replaced my 914 Clutch/flywheel and pressure plate. This spring I began resealing my engine.
When I separated by clutch assembly, I noticed the crush washer was waffled. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong to cause this? Also I keep reading about shims for the clutch. I don't see where they go or where to get them from. Suggestions please. |

Clutch
It's called the transmission crush washer. It is about 3" in diameter and has 5 holes in it.

Pretty sure that's normal. Has to do with the sequence the bolts are tightened in.

In theory, you are supposed to replace the flywheel lock plate and the lock nuts every time you remove the flywheel from the crank. In practice, people get away without doing that, but it's good for extra peace of mind.
