CV Joints
Okay, been working real hard to get my engine and tranny into good shape, then last night the worse happened. When my engine slipped off the jack, in my haste to clear the area, I bumped into my axle causing my CV Joints to separate and dropping the 6 ball bearings. Found 5. Can't find #6.
Any help out there, can I get a replacement bearing and not by the entire CV Joint? Thanks Al PS. I wasn't smart enough to wrap plastic bags around the joints, I will in the future! |

You might try taking one of the bearigns out and match it up at the local hardware store. However i'm thinking that they are probably pretty badly worn to begin with. You really have to try to get those bearings out of the race. If they simply fell out, I'd be thinking new CV joints.

If your dead set on just finding just the ball you need, first you may want to know its diameter. There are quite a number of buggy/off road shops or fabricators that use the VW style of CV's. I know there are different applications ( type I, II, IV, 181, 930, etc). You may have to go to a large VW based site like thesamba.com and find some off road guys. They also have a huge classifieds.
Hope this helps, Bill |
