Does anyone know whre I can get an accelerator cable bracket that bolts onto a 2.0L? I just switched over to dual Webers from F.I.
Thanks, RJ

I use a Weltmeister cross bar linkage on my 914. It came with a cable bracket that is very simple. It is a piece of cad-plated steel bar stock, approximately 1" wide, 1/8-3/16" thick, and 6" long. At one end it is drilled for the cable end, at the other for a bolt. The bolt end attaches to the fan shroud where the two shroud halves bolt together. It fits at one of the mold webs and the 1" width keeps it from rotating left or right. The bracket has two bends to move the cable end closer to the cross bar linkage. When bolted to the fan shroud the bracket rises vertically about 2", bends slightly toward the engine, then the final 2" bends vertical to give the cable a square approach to the throtle arm on the linkage. This works fine and has never losened or moved out of alignment. A bracket like this should not be too hard to fabricate.

Hey you were looking at mine
No lie great minds think a like. Sounds exactly how I made mine last week. I took a piece of stainless 12 GA sheet. 3" wide two bends a hole. and to stiffen the thing up I rolled the edges which made it really rigid.

Thanks guys. I wanted to see if there was an off the shelf part that would be easier to buy and install. I will probably just fab my own.
Thanks again. RJ

RJ, Weltmeister products are made by Performance Products/Automotion and are sold by several dealers including Pelican. Perhaps you could call Pelican or Performance and ask if they could sell you a bracket from their kit. If not you could also try CB Perfomance who offer the familiar hex bar linkage that must have a cable bracket to match.

6"-7" section of 1/2 tubing. Flatten ends in a vise 90 degrees to each other. One end bolts to the case bolts, the cable is attached to the other. If I were near my car, would I attach an image. Yeh, I'm cheap!
Ok, the cheap guy is gonna attach an image: ![]() Darn ~ Dave is always right. A gusseted approach would be better (see a couple of posts below). I think he may have found the reason my 914 isn't as fast as the 928 ![]() ![]()

On my firstcarb linkage, I did something similar to Ron's approach. I took a 6" piece of 3/4" wide by 1/8" thick steel stock. Held one end in a vice, the other in some flat jaw pliers, then twisted it 90 degrees. Drilled a bolt hole on one end and a hole for the cable in the other. Bolted it with one of the case bolts at the correct distance from the linkage.

Ron, I'd suggest a second bar attached to that first one. There doesn't seem to be anything keeping that one bar from pivoting around the case through-bolt. I've seen more than one carb'ed 914 have serious problems due to a failed throttle cable bracket. One of the most common failures is that the thing just swings around whatever bolt it's mounted to... A second bar, firmly attached, should prevent that.
