I need help.
I have changed over the transmission to a side shifter. The engine mounting bar is the question. 1) Is there rubber where the mount meets the frame of the car? 2) Is there rubber where the mount meets the engine? I could really use a diagram to make sure I have all the parts.. I got the following Engine bar with end bolts and rectangular metal plates. Shifter Front Shift Rod Rear Shift Rod Rear U-joint Thats all... Not sure about the engine to bar and bar to car mounts... Rich 72 914 A Pure bread Pelican machine. |

You need a Sideshift cross bar (it has a large hole for the shiftrod to pass though), Two motor mounts that attach to the center of the crossbar, Two monting plates that take the place of the T-S motor mounts.Gear shifter assembly to hook up to the front rod, A Conversion Bushing for the shift tube, Rear dust cover. steve

The engine mounts (bar to engine) can I use the ones from the TS or are they different? The bar to body mount...Is it just the rectangular plate??? Rich |

Rich,
For the side-shift mount (top pic) part #2 is the only rubber. The outside mount is bar(#9)-to-plate(#11)-to-frame, no rubber.

I am doing the same conversion. If I want to make the motor mount bracket (Item 1 on the diagram) does anyone know what the dimension from the center of the hole down to the motor mount is? Is it the same as the TS bracket dimension?

There are so many brackets out there I wouuldn't make one. I had a late 72 parts car with the tail shifter but the part you descibe was the same qas the later side shifters. Can't be 100% but I'm pretty sure the 78 bus engine I took apart also had the later sylte brackets.
