?want to delete ignition from steering column

Does anyone have experience deleting the ignition switch fron the steering column on a 75 car. I thought that I read that 73 and earlier 911 parts work with the 914 column. I am not interested in having a steering lock or making this like the 914-6 cars I just want to delete the igniton and have the column cover that works. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Yes, I did that in my race car as I did not want to have any possible chance of the column lock grabbing the column in a race and the resulting excitement. In the tech section there is an article of how I deleted all the stuff on the column and the wires for ignition are noted. I used a large red covered ignition/master kill switch and wired a push button for starting. I used to keep the key in the switch location as it had a good luck silver 914 on it my wife bought me. I also added a remote starter push button in the engine compartment which was handy for testing and starting BEFORE I got in that race seat and all strapped in!

I think keyed ignition switches are readily available so all you would have to do is match the wires.
