vacuum hose layout differs
I have a 1.8 L jetronic 914 with a vacuum hose detail that differs from th Pelican Parts diagram. Specifically, my 914's has only 1 hose coming from the throttle body to the distributor vacuum advance, and I do not see an EGR valve. The Pelican Parts diagram has 2 hoses running from the throttle body to the distributor's vaccuum advance.... 1 hose runs directly from the throttle body to the lower (distributor side ) vacuum advance diaphram and a separate hose that runs from the rear side of the throttle body which also Tee's off.... one of the T'd hose connects to the EGR valve the other T'd Hose connects to the upper side of the distributor vacuum advance diaphram. Am I missing something on my 914? Also I am not sure if my single hose from the throttle body connects to the upper or lower diaphram? And is one of the vacuum advance diaphram left open that is with no hoses attached? Thats the way it was when I bought this car, and after checking all components of the fuel injection system I still cannot get this car to run. Occasionally It will start and chug idle when the accelerator is floored but I have no other response with the accelerator, the fuel pump and the cold start valve works fine, but the injectors do not seem to be functioning and I can't figure out why, I've checked the points, the timing, all the switches, sensors, etc

If there is only one fitting on your throttle body, it is vacuum retard. It connects to the fitting on the distributor dashpot that points toward the distributor body.
For a 1.8, the standard advice is: Make sure the distributor is actually working (and that you are getting sparks) and they are happening somewhere right around TDC. Then look for vacuum leaks. --DD

I am fairly certain I have the #1 spark firing at the 7.5 before TDC red dot on the fan as I have done the static light test at the red mark on the flywheel where I compression tested the highest compression point where the distributor rotor rounds at #1 point on the distributor also at the red dot on the fan.
I just discovered that 2 injectors on cylinders #3&4 are not working where injectors on #1&2 seem to be working just fine. I switched them to the opposite sides and confirmed that injectors #3 & 4 are not spewing gas on cylinder connectors 1&2 either. Where injectors #1 & 2 work fine on cylinder connectors 3&4 so I am assuming that injectors 3&4 are faulty. This must be why I can get the engine to chug idle .....just on two cylinders As for vacuum leaks do you know of a good method for checking vacuum leaks? Thanks for your help really appreciate it.
