Talking 8 cylinder T4 engine

Somebody have sometimes asked about this swedish masterpiece, "home made" 8 cylinder T4 engine. Here it is in the back of the sand buggy.

And, if you wonder if it runs, I can prove it sure did. This picture is taken about in mid ī90s in Motopark, Sweden in BugRun VW happening. The owner drove the car to the happening. There were 1/8 mile long drag-strip and the owner took couple of starts. I just canīt remember the times, but it was quite fast. And the sound of the engine was something ..... special. So smooth. I hope somebody can tell more details.

There was a thread on this subject in the Shoptalk Forums Type IV BBS http://www.shoptalkforums.com . Take a look about a month back, I think? There was a link to a few more pictures, but not a lot of info.

Just go to the Type 4 BBS, set the "show all posts for" thing to 30 or 60 days, then look through the list of topics.

Alternately, you can do a search for "917". We got into a discussion of the 917 in the thread as well.

Found the thread, but my memory was faulty. It was a 16-cylinder Type IV that was discussed a bit. Actually, GRDBO (who may still post around here) did mention the 8-cylinder, but nothing more.

Sorry about that...
