1974 914/4 Jack/straps

Can someone please post a photo of the jack and jack straps in their '72> 914? I bought a jack from an e-bay seller; it is a Bilstein, and has separate up and down controls (NOT a turn handle), and a separate operating lever. I also got, with the car, the Bosch jack pictured below. Now I'm trying to figure out what is right for the car. I have the following...and no, the car is not concours! I'm just trying to use the right pieces as the car continues to improve. The Bosch jack that I got with the car was not mounted, it was half buried with pine needles, cob webs, nests, and small, dead animals - in the front trunk.

The crank jack looks like one for a VW Bus. The first one looks like the one in the early 914's. Could even be a 356 jack.

Take a look at this.

Thanks, Jared! That helps; it appears that I have a legit jack, although it's for the early 914. I think that I'll try to fit the crank handle Bosch jack into the anchors in the rear trunk...and keep looking for a correct jack. BTW; the "correct" jack for a '74 appears to be the same jack that's in my '82 SC!

I am not 100% sure but I think the 74 came with the Green Dot Bilstein ...

The early ones had similar to the top pics you posted and I think they have a VW part number ... I have an early Bilstien that has a VW logo on the piece that inserts to the hole that came with my 73 .. but I don't believe its the "correct" one for that year the manuals shows the one like your top pics for the 72 and prior and the 74 manual shows a green dot style ...

Here is a link to Bowlsby's site rare documents page .. three down from the top are links to a 1974 914 Owners manual open all the number and letter links and you can download the entire thing ... Just in case you don't have one ... A PDF is better than nothing ....

Rare 914 Documents

Hope it helps Pete ...

Thanks, SC - I've printed a couple of sections. Good stuff!
