The latest: I just adjusted my timing to the correct place and rpm. It is running better, but still high. Before I did my hose nipple plugging routing I decided to try the old carb cleaner trick. What I found was appauling. My throttle body is leaking at the part where the bar goes in from the throttle cable. #3 ( my bastard cylinder) is leaking at the new o ring seal to the intake. When I push down on the injector the back firing decreases and the idle goes down significantly. #4 is the same but not as bad. I sprayed by the vent on the MPS and I dont like the slight increase in RPM ( will have to minitor that). So it looks like I have my work cut out for me. I adjusted the idle fuel mixture richer and it got better, thanks to Dave for the tip. It still smokes a bit when throttle operation is conducted, but just sitting there idleing is no prob. I may have a bad MPS as when I unplug the hose from it the RPM comes down realy calm and the smoke pretty much goes away. AHHHH! Any how. Im still open to ideas and I need an MPS I think so if you got one for a 52 ECU for a 76 2.0 lemme Know.
Thanks a buch.

Go to Brads page at Members/rennlist.com/pbanders and check out the MPS testing to detrimine if it is bad. A bad MPS doesn't hold a vacuum because of diaphram cracks or the paper gasket fails that seals the diaphram to the cover. You can reseal the gasket and see if that helps.

And now....some resolution! After doing my leak test I have concluded and fixed the following things. I put sealant on the #3 & #4 fuel injecters, started the car, and it is another beast! I had to use the throttle adjust screw for the first time! I am elated. I realize now after testing all of the other "trouble spots" that the increase in RPM when testing the vents of the MPS was due to the close proximity to the offending leaks in my injecters. The leak at the trottle body...bolt that clamps the air box on loose. Now the back firing is rather non existant. I can still hear a hint of it but that is due to my autohypochondria ( the phenomenon of "whats that noise?!", and "do you hear that?!"). I am going to replace my points with the pertronics or similar model and hope that that smoothes that out. The smoking has gotten less as well. My neighbor with many years experience as a mechanic reminded me that if I had just put new rings on the pistons that they may take a little while to wear in, and that that might be the cause of some of the blow by. PHEW. Well on to the next set of problems, repacking the front whell bearings. Thanks to all of the contributors to my success. This web forum is a far cry from what I had back in 96 with my first teener. The lack of support back then regretably forced me to sell it. My deepest thanks again, although I am certainly not done yet!.
