sway bar bushing help

Can anyone offer some advice on installing the front swaybar cup bushings on the bar. The difficulty lies in getting them started over the square end of the stock bar. Will heat help make the bushing a little more pliable?

On both our 914s, both with a stock sway bar and one with an aftermarket one, the bushings were tight going on. The square ends should be the same size as the OD of the tube though? Make sure there are no burrs on the ends, and that the bushing is smooth inside. I have seen a couple that had to be sanded a little to slide over the bar and then use a little grease. Good luck.
