Is it possible to re-pack the throw-out bearing?

If I recall correctly, it is not--not officially. I remember reading somewhere (packaging for the bearing????) that it was permanently greased and should not be re-packed, that it should be replaced instead.

I was able to repack mine even though I new better. It seemed dry and in need of grease so I gave it some .It worked fine and saved me $65.It is only about a 3 hour job to change it if it doesnt work.

I used wheel bearing grease. It should be ok if It wasnt noisy to begin with.

The tranny has an enourmous amount of grease/sludge inside and out, so I used solvents to clean everything, including the bearing. I just wanted to put some back in.

Wish I'd heard this two weeks ago when I was cleaning and organizing parts and threw out an old, dry T/O bearing! When you are keeping your cars going through the use of "recycled" parts, every little bit helps.
