Possible AA lawsuit?
Did you guys see the message posted on 914club.com about someone taking names for a suit against a certain Georgia company? Just thought I might mention it here.
Maybe they could divide up the 916 and everyone could get a piece. ![]() James |

I'm just waiting for the going out of business liquidation sale so I can swing by and load up my truck with parts. Of course that is assuming there are actually any good parts.

From what I've heard, early on they were good. But then were swayed by the darkside.
It's funny though, as a company, they _have_ to know that they have a bad reputation in the community. You would think at somepoint they would get a clue. James

I find it strange that they are still being pominiently used by magazines.
FI in the latest issue of Grassroots it seems that they use AA first and the things that they cannot find at AA they go through GPR and PP. I guess they dont yet know that PP is the best. ![]() I wonder what the suit is for. I imagine it has to be more than the bad business that I have heard about. Has anyone checked out there feedback on the Better Business Bureau site? Kelly |

I'm not sure how far-and-wide that bad reputation has spread. Around here and on Rennlist, they definitely have a bad rep. However, I've often experienced otherwise. When I was out actively looking at cars, more than once I had a seller proudly tell me "I've gotten all of my parts from @@. And, I'll even include their catalog with the sale." Often, I was pointed to boxes of spare parts that were being included with the car that had a GA return address.
Then, this past Sunday at an autocross I was swapping stories with a guy that had the same year and color as my 914. He proudly told me that he just got his 2.0 back from George after sending it to him for a rebuild. I guess that there are many sides to every story. |

Not BBB, no. But a credit check turned up some interesting things... There were, as of a while ago, at least two medium-size suits pending. And the report didn't exactly recommend loaning lots of money at low interest to them. It was kind of interesting to see. ...Then again, I'm not sure I wanna know what PP's report looks like!! ![]() --DD

A JC Hussey from Marietta, GA has the high bid on at least two of the nicer 914s on ebay right now.

I think many have felt burned by that company because they take advantage of the newer 914 owners.
When I got my first 914, I bought things for it on E-bay, and many times over paid for new stuff from AA. They would post things like, "complete tune up kit" with a starting price already higher than the individual parts. I bought the "fuel pump relocation kit" for $50 and all it had were a bunch of pre cut hoses and some hose clamps. The "complete instructions" were one page, and very lame. They even had a hand-drawn schematic that looked like my 7-year-old had done it. SO... you live, you learn. I doubt these things are lawsuit material, but they are a far cry from good customer service. And just one more great PP story. I ordered the rebuilt pedal cluster from PP last week. by the end of the same day, Tom from PP had already called me to say they did not have a core to rebuild, but they would do mine if I yank it out or do I just want to order the bushings and springs instead? There is no doubt that AA would never have called me like that. Instead I am sure I would have waited and waited for the package, then, after a few weeks, I would have called and they would have been rude to me and told me they didn't know anything about my order. Thanks PP. I already have the weekend set aside to rebuild my pedal cluster.

Be careful before you jump to comclusions
I was slandered very hard on this site in the past, Don't always be so quick to judge. I sold a pair of Webers to someone on ebay and the very day he go them he started posting things on this board that I ripped him off and that the carbs were missing parts, he didn't even email me to correct the problem. So I go about 4 or 5 emails from random people who didn't know anything about the situation, along with anyone who ever got ripped off on ebay joined in the slander. People recomended to him that he: Call the FBI, call the local police, let eveyone know I was a thief! Demand his money back before he returned the carbs and Slander my name everywhere he could. Luckly he contacted me first. I didn't realize that one of the carbs was broken, so I returned his money. It wasn't such a big deal, I'm not out to rip people off but man some of you people on this page are so quick to judge. One guy (Joe A) took it upon himself to say the he personally will to what he can to make sure everyone knows I am disshonest, I have to admit I wrote a very rude email back to him as he had no idea what time frame the sale took place. Complaints were made to me before a refund was ever asked for.
I actually think AA is kind of shady. I bought 2 things from them and had no customer service at all! I sent them a few emails asking about a missing part on one of the items I bought and they never answered. Never returned my feedback on ebay either. They had a very stuck up attitude and priced many 914 parts like you would price late model 911 stuff. PP is the way to go, I am glad they have lowered prices a bit, they aren't super cheap but they are reliable. Thank God for my friend Tiny who gives me his wholsale price on parts from his shop#.

AA
Well,
Yes their parts are more expensive and they do charge alot on shipping. However, everytime I needed something in a pinch, and tech advice they were always prompt in helping out. They tend to have some of the odd ball parts that are difficult to aquire. Regarding PP i must they have also been extreemly helpfull in assistanting me trouble shoot some problems ive had. I've also used highly reputable shops for repairs on my car in the past and had nothing but problems with the work they done/were suppose to do. So, every1 has there own experiences. |

Question? Has anyone ever seen a set of the steel flares that they have been taking orders on for so many years? I'm just wondering?

Actually... I started rebuilding my '74 914 several years ago and ran up quite a few credit cards buying parts from AA. Among those parts was a set of factory steel flares. I just talked to a guy on Rennlist that had ordered a set of flares from AA. He said they were drop shipped from Mittle Motor.

The dealer can still get factory steel flares, Brumos Porsche advertised some not to long ago. The flares that I'm talking about, are the ones that AA has/was taking deposits on for the past 5 years or so. Those are the one I want to know about. Did anyone here give them a deposit? If you did, did you get the flares or a refund if they didn't build them? I know that AA buys their factory Porsche parts from a dealer, just like independant shops do.
