just a dumb question

My speedometer cable just broke too.. ahhhhh!! this car wont stop breaking all its litte important things and is driving me nuts!!.. but anyway.. now that i ned a new cable.. do you replace the inner cable or the entire houseing?

The whole thing. It has connectors for the tranny and speedo at each end.
