Modified 2.0 muffler

While researching on how to modify a stock muffler to a sport, I came across two articles on 911 mufflers but nothing on 914 mufflers. Two questions; First, is the construction of the 914 2.0 muffler internally the same as the early 911 muffler and second, if not, does anyone have a DYI procedure for a 914 muffler? I am assuming the internal construction of the two are the same but usually when I assume, bad things happen. If the internals are similar, then the 911 procedure will obviously work...just want to be sure. Thanks!

Don't cut it up. The 2.0L muffler is just about the best muffler you can get for the car.

Are you doing this just for the sport look and sound?

You will make no power changing the muffler. Head work is what is needed.

We are doing it for the look and the sound. The plan is to leave the original "out" pipe in place and use the two "sport" pipes as capped straight pipes that can be uncapped when he really wants to make some noise. I am not sure my sub-division would too happy when he heads to school with really loud exhaust. I know my wife wouldn't be happy.

Roger that...he just wants a louder lawn mower. If he had his druthers, he would run straight pipes all the time. So I figure this will be an acceptable compromise...plus it will look sportier.
