Ball joint control arm problem

I removed the ball joints from the control arms on my 914 1976. Used a pipe wrench, breaker bar and a lot of heat and they came off.

However on one of the control arms the tab for locating the ball joint when tightening the ball joint nut sheared off.

I guess I could weld on a new tab but my welding is c**p and I dont want to make it any worse.

Any suggestions?

David

A new (or new-used) A-arm...

screwed

I have seen people put a self tapping metal screw in its place, not pretty but effective

The answer to shipping to Sweden? A whole bunch more than the part is worth. Just weld a tab, os a screw as suggested above. It's just to hold the ball joint while you tighten the nut.
