914-6 Throttle Linkage Adjustments
Is there a tech article or directions anywhere for proper adjustment of the 914/6 throttle linkage?
I've gone through the factory workshop manuals, and can't find step-by-step directions. TIA, Lawrence |

Hiya JP!
Thanks for the pictures. That looks really clean. ![]() I've got the linkage in place. It works, but I think that I may have some free HP in there. When I reassembled the car (back in 2000), I just bolted it all together. No adjustments, really. I'd like to do it right before the Mid US Ramble this year. -Lawrence |

I just take all of the slack out of the cable with the adjusting nuts. If you can't, you need to look at taking slack out of the rods, then adjusting the cables.
Or the cable has stretched and is about to fail... James

You'll note that the bell crank (second pic) is level and the pivot at the trans is nearly so.
![]() then, the crossbar attach arm is close to plumb. This will allow full opening of the carbs. The linkage to the carb on the pass side is set to make up the space when these other thingies are orientated properly. The drivers side down link is set when syncronizing the carbs, side to side......the tricky part. HTH Dirt.....grease? where?.....auggh! Humm....looks like the date goodie on my camera is off a bit. I'd fix it iff'n I knew how.....whut size wrench do I use?

Lawrence, drop Rich Johnson a yell about the linkage. He has repop'ed the original setup, and knows a thing or two about adjustments... If nothing else, you can ask him in person at the MUSR if you don't get it done by then!!
